Access to BlueJeans in Canvas ends Jan. 12

Last month, ITS announced that the university will retire BlueJeans effective May 1, 2021. To prepare for this change, ITS has begun work on the steps needed to replace BlueJeans with Zoom in ITS-supported applications, including Canvas.

As part of this process, BlueJeans integrations in Canvas will no longer be available starting Tuesday, January 12, 2021. Users will still have access to BlueJeans as a stand-alone videoconferencing platform until the May 1 retirement date.

Earlier this week, ITS reached out directly to university IT leadership as well as faculty and instructional staff who are active BlueJeans users to provide some planning resources for winter term courses:

  • This checklist provides an overview of how to transition to Zoom in Canvas.
  • ITS maintains a comprehensive “Zoom for Teaching” guide that provides detailed information, including a section on using Zoom in Canvas.
  • The project website has an FAQ and additional documentation and training material related to the retirement of BlueJeans at U-M.
  • Highly trained IT staff who are experts on Canvas, BlueJeans, and Zoom are available to work with users directly.
