Fall Ready: Behind the Scenes at UM-Flint

Rear view of students sitting and listening in lecture hall doing practical tasks on their laptops.

To get the UM-Flint campus ready for the Fall semester, ITS Classroom Services runs a full audit on every classroom to make sure all equipment is ready for day one. We test room inputs, camera feeds and controls, microphone quality, and in-room audio levels. We also clean and tidy up instructor lecterns so faculty walk into a clean, functional space. Any problems found during the process are ticketed and fixed immediately.

Along with AV checks, we deploy a fresh, updated Windows image to all classroom desktops and mobile delivery laptops. Knocking this out early gives us time to catch software or network issues before classes start. Taking care of these checks ahead of time cuts down our first-week ticket volume and lets our staff focus on other start-of-semester requests that hit the queues.
