HITS launches online journal to showcase biomedical research

Michigan Video Abstracts — or MVA — is a new online journal that showcases the work of U-M faculty from the biomedical sciences. Emeritus and senior faculty members reflect on their substantial contributions to medical knowledge and discoveries during the course of their careers through video podcasts.

The Education and Training division of Health Information Technology & Services (HITS), Education Design Team created and maintains the site. The effort, which was over a year in the making, was led by administrative manager of the Design Team and MVA project director, Chris Chapman.

By utilizing short videos on topics such as sustaining a long career, caring for patients with bipolar disorder and using technology to improve care for patients with cancer, MVA aims to inspire scientists, researchers and the public by introducing the experts behind the innovations. “The information isn’t bound by time. The scientists’ wisdom is everlasting and relevant for today’s up-and-coming researchers, as well as the general public,” said Chapman.
