The Box to Dropbox migrations begin in June

" "

The U-M Box to U-M Dropbox migrations are beginning in June and will continue throughout the spring and summer on a rolling basis. Faculty and staff will be notified by the Unit Ambassador associated with their school, college, or unit as to when they can begin using the self-service migration tool, which has been designed to make the move as simple as possible.

While the migration process is pretty straightforward, end users will experience differences between how Box and Dropbox function. The Box Retirement Project team has developed materials that address these distinctions and made them available on the project website. Michigan IT community members are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the information, especially the following sections:

  • What You Should Know, which includes three brief videos that cover the Top 5 Migration Questions, How Migration Works, and What to Know Before You Migrate
  • Faculty/Staff Guide to Moving Out of Box, which is a quick guide reference that explains what individuals should do now and what to expect throughout the process.
  • Frequently Asked Questions, which is regularly updated based on what the project team learns during weekly Unit Ambassador meetings and from those who have participated in the various pilots.

Questions about the migration should be directed to the Unit Ambassador associated with that unit. Those areas that do not have a Unit Ambassador assigned as well as individuals with other concerns should email Box-Retirement-Project@umich.edu.
