As part of the improvements to the identity processes for UMID and uniqnames, UM-Dearborn students are now using their uniqname and passwords to sign into the student self-service portal UM-Dearborn Connect. This is expected to streamline campus orientation, enhance the usability of the site, and reduce much of the ad-hoc support that was previously needed. This implementation involved a lot of moving pieces and had a hard deadline of March 29, 2018 to allow for registering for summer and fall terms. Previous to this deployment, students used their UMID numbers and PINs to access the site. This move reduced the number of passwords needed to be remembered and moved the system to a stronger authentication system.
