Beginning in March 2026, new global standards from the Certificate Authority/Browser Forum will gradually reduce the lifespan of TLS/SSL digital certificates, critical tools for authenticating websites and securing data communication. By March 2029, certificates will last only 47 days – down from today’s 398.
You can no longer request two-year SSL server certificates from ITS. Web browsers and devices from Apple, Google, and Mozilla will not trust any two-year certificate issued after August 30, 2020.
The CA/Browser Forum is a group of SSL certificate authorities and web-browser developers who work to set standards for SSL encryption.
