Michigan IT Transitions to Michigan Technology Community

U-M Michigan Technology Community

Michigan IT is evolving to become the Michigan Technology Community, a change that underscores a broader, more inclusive mission to unite and celebrate the impactful work of all technology experts at U-M.

The transformation from Michigan IT to the Michigan Technology Community signifies a commitment to cultivating a dynamic and inclusive environment. This new name and perspective nurtures a diverse, vibrant community that not only encompasses IT staff but also includes technology professionals at large. The initiative broadens its focus beyond traditional IT to embrace all facets of technology and innovation.

Over 2,600 staff are already contributing to U-M’s campuses, schools and colleges, libraries, research institutes, Michigan Medicine, and administrative units under the Michigan IT banner. The Michigan Technology Community aims to support and enhance this foundation by offering a wider array of engagement opportunities, innovative showcases, and programs designed to elevate workforce skills and abilities.

The Michigan Technology Community will continue to be led by its Steering Committee and sponsored by the Office of the VPIT-CIO. Under this umbrella, the community will continue to foster its objectives centered around development, collaboration, innovation, and promotion.

Expect to see an array of changes to what is now the MTC (pronounced “em-tek”) website and newsletter in the coming weeks and months.
