SUMIT Reimagined goes online

Security at University of Michigan IT (SUMIT) 2020, ITS’s free annual event hosted during National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, goes online for SUMIT Reimagined. This series of informational events where members of the U‑M community can get help from IT experts on a variety of topics is entirely virtual this year. Check out a few of the events below and see a full list of events, including specific meeting information, on the Safe Computing website.

  • October 21, 11:30 a.m: Classifying Data at U‑M. Learn more about U‑M’s data classification levels, see examples, participate in a data classification exercise, and find out how we protect sensitive data at U‑M.
  • October 22, 1 p.m.: Duo Two‑Factor — How to Get Your Systems Connected. Learn how to add Duo to the various systems and applications you manage, including RDP and SSH connections.
  • October 29, 2 p.m.: Seven‑Month Check‑In: Remote IT Security. Seven months into remote work, school, and research, do you have the resources you need? During this session, IA will review ITS’s existing educational materials around remote access, discuss some new security tools that can help secure your remote systems, and have an open discussion about what problems you are still facing and how they can help.
