In an ongoing effort to provide the best possible service to its customers, the MiServer team recently invested a tremendous amount of time and labor to bring quality enhancements to their managed virtual server environment.

Over an 18-month period, the group worked extensively on replacing aging hardware, upgrading supporting infrastructure, and developing automation tools in an effort to bring about a much more robust and dependable service.

As a result of all these newly-implemented improvements, MiServer customers can now look forward to not only increased performance, but also greater stability, reliability, and security.

Notable highlights include:

  • A greater number of newer high-quality host server hardware with more advanced CPU instruction sets that provide three times faster compute speeds.
  • A brand new and significantly faster storage array system that delivers a ten-fold reduction in latency, data encryption at rest, and synchronous replication between data centers.
  • New network datacenter switches with redundant configuration and architecture to eliminate single points of failure.
  • Automated host and OS patching utilities and protocols designed to reduce maintenance times, promote consistent configurations, and facilitate regular updates to the environment.

The MiServer team, of course, is well aware that progress never ceases, and it’s in this spirit they continue to focus on ways to best administer and improve their services, such as reducing the time it takes to request a new server, offering greater backup and restore capabilities, and reaching out to campus units to better understand and prioritize future needs.
