In a recent story published by Fortune, U-M School of Information’s Kristin Fontichiaro, clinical assistant professor, was quoted on the topic of data literacy in society. She discussed the role of librarians and data scientists to educate society to better understand data.
Fontichiaro was principle researcher on a three-year data literacy project called Supporting Librarians in Adding Data Literacy Skills to Information Literacy Instruction. The project was designed to develop data and statistical literacy skills in high school librarians so they can better support critical comprehension skills in their students.
