‘Dissonance’ hosts Knight-Wallace fellows

By | March 31, 2017

On March 22, Knight-Wallace journalists, Bastian Obermayer and Laurent Richard shared the stories behind some of the biggest data leaks in history, and how privacy and security play important roles and present significant challenges in investigative journalism in the digital age. The event was part of the Dissonance speaker series.

Event highlights

Among the topics discussed were how privacy and security concerns affect investigations; what kind of tools journalists use to protect information and sources; and how to prepare for legal, government, or company pressure. A journalist from Ann Arbor-based Duo Security wrote an excellent summary article of the event—read it on Duo’s website. You can also find a collection of highlights and quotes posted on Twitter at @umichTECH.
