In support of a new university policy, ITS published a set of Guiding Principles for Accessibility to ensure that people with disabilities enjoy the services it offers to campus.

The work also reflects ITS’s commitment to creating an inclusive and equitable workplace climate. The guiding principles are an outcome of the ITS strategic plan for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).

The goal of the principles is to communicate—in a non-technical way—that all Michigan IT needs to be as effective, available, and usable for disabled as for non-disabled people. They cover technical compliance with products developed internally or procured, prioritizing solutions to accessibility problems, publicizing available assistive technology, and promoting universal design.

The principles are part of the ITS Web Strategy at its.umich.edu/web-strategy/accessibility.
