Microsoft recently announced that it will be ending its support of Windows 7 — the operating system (OS) on most Michigan Medicine CoreImage devices. To get a step ahead of the transition, Health Information Technology & Services (HITS) has already begun to migrate CoreImage PCs to the Windows 10 operating system in several locations.
There are more than 36,000 Windows-based devices within Michigan Medicine. As a result, HITS is prioritizing this effort to ensure that the hardware and the software applications used in the organization will be compatible with the new OS. The upgrade will have no impact to Mac/Apple laptops or desktop workstations — only Windows-based CoreImage PCs.
Upgrading to Windows 10 will allow Michigan Medicine to remain current and supported, with the necessary updates and security patches to provide a secure computing environment. Stay tuned for more information as HITS teams prepare to visit your area.
