Thanks to the School of Dentistry for partnering with ITS this summer to pilot the self-service project site download tool and migration clinics. They provided valuable feedback that confirmed the ease of using the tool as well as the value of one-on-one consultations.
The project site migration tool is now available to all project site owners in CTools. With the tool, site owners can review their sites, delete sites, download content, and generate a list of members. Read more about the tool on our Get Started page on the project website.
The target date for transitioning all active project sites from CTools is August 31, 2018; however, individual units may choose an earlier date. All historical content in CTools will be available at least through July 1, 2019. (The ability to create new sites in CTools was suspended in February.)
ITS will begin communicating with project site owners at the end of September, encouraging them to review their sites. Depending on their level of readiness to transition out of CTools, site owners can then:
- Transfer or update ownership.
- Delete sites that are no longer needed.
- Use the self-service tool to download site content and migrate it to another platform or save it in a location of their choosing.
ITS offers migration clinics featuring one-on-one consultations to help with the transition. The project website provides more information. Site owners who are not ready to move project site content should try an alternative service for any collaboration or storage needs to find the solution that works best for them.
