Update Cookie Consent Integration by March 21

The Office of the Vice President for Communications (OVPC), in collaboration with the Information and Technology Services (ITS) Privacy Office, has released a new consent and preference management integration for U-M websites. The solution, U-M Cookie Disclosure, enables website visitors to allow or decline collection of information and replaces the OneTrust Cookie Consent module.

The new integration, developed for the complex university web environment, offers the same functionality while allowing for additional flexibility:

  • Banner activation based on geolocation
  • Easy integration on websites
  • Ability to customize
  • Option to implement the banner on non-umich.edu domains

Action Needed

Administrators of websites in the umich.edu domain who have deployed the OneTrust module should follow these instructions to update to the new U-M Cookie Disclosure by March 21, 2025. Failure to do so will cause the outdated consent banner and preference manager to not load.

Note: If you are using the current WordPress plugin, the transition occurs automatically when you update the plugin as normal.
