CTools sites to become read-only August 31

CTools site migration interface

For the last year and a half, ITS has worked with campus to help site owners transition off of CTools project sites. As a next step, ITS is targeting August 31, 2018 to change CTools sites to read-only: site content can be viewed and downloaded, but not modified. All content in CTools will remain available in a read-only state at least through July 1, 2019.

Exemptions from read-only status will be granted for sites that contain export-controlled data. Other exemption requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Site owners who need an exemption should contact the ITS project team with the name of the site, reason for exemption, and how long the site needs to remain active.

Project site owners can use a migration tool to review and delete sites, download content, and generate a list of members. Read more about the tool on the Get Started page of the project website. Site owners who are not ready to delete or move project site content should try an alternative service for any collaboration or storage needs to find the solution that works best for them. Please contact the ITS project team with questions not covered by our FAQs.

Sign up for the May 9 Enriching Scholarship session Retaining and Reusing Materials when Moving to New Technologies for assistance in downloading, deleting, or moving content from your CTools project sites. The project website also has training resources and information about upcoming migration clinics or other in-person training.
