On February 14, Academic Innovation hosted the first ever Academic Innovation Data Showcase. The event was created to make the ongoing research at Academic Innovation more accessible to the U-M community. More than 90 attendees from across the university, and a few visitors from other institutions, attended the inaugural event.
“By putting the focus on data we were able to create a space that allowed us to explore the connections between projects that might not otherwise be apparent,” writes Cait Holman, AI associate director for research and development in her event summary. The event featured a discussion panel that included Homan; Laura Alford, faculty in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering; Veronica Falandino, associate director for Admissions and Student Affairs, and Ravi Pendse, U-M’s vice president for information technology and chief information officer.

- Gus Evrard, professor of physics and astronomy and innovator in residence at AI
- Ben Hayward, AI associate director for software development and user experience design
- Rebecca Quintana, AI learning experience design lead
- Meghan Duffy, LSA professor of ecology and evolutionary biology
- Christopher Brooks, research faculty in the School of Information and AI’s director of learning analytics and research
- Sarah Dysart, AI director of online and hybrid programs
