Winter Innovation Expo 2024 – a moment on our innovation journey
Around 200 technology professionals from across the university came together at the Winter Innovation Expo networking event. Incoming Chair Aubrey Morse announced the rebranding of Michigan IT as the Michigan Technology Community, the Hacks With Friends finalists presented their projects, and attendees were able to learn about innovative projects across the university.

Message from the VPIT-CIO
I hope you are all having a wonderful December. I am proud of our community’s hard work and achievements over the past year. We evolved “Michigan IT” to the more inclusive “Michigan Technology Community,” the Winter Innovation Expo highlighted our diverse community’s efforts across the university, and relaunched U-M’s Digital Accessibility website which now offers enhanced support and resources. Have a wonderful holiday season and winter break. See you in 2025.

Meet Greg Laman, Director of Technology at the School of Music, Theatre & Dance. He and his team support the general computing needs of the school and the more specialized technology in their studios. He has worked at the SMTD since the late nineties and enjoys seeing and hearing the great work being done by the school’s students and faculty.
