Obituaries

The Michigan Technology Community News accepts submitted obituaries for active or retired faculty or staff members that are provided by family, colleagues, a university department, or funeral homes within three months of the faculty or staff member’s death. They should not exceed 600 words and can include a high-resolution image that will be cropped to a head shot. 

The submission deadline is noon on the last Wednesday of the month preceding publication of the Michigan Technology Community News’ next publication. Obituaries should be submitted via Google Doc or a plain-text format via the submission form.

Obituaries are published in the Michigan Technology Community News newsletter and are included on the Michigan Technology Community News website. Links to obituaries or memorial articles for active faculty or staff only, and which are published on another university unit’s website, may be included in the Michigan Technology Community News when the editors are made aware of them.

The Michigan Technology Community is guided by a dedicated working group of Michigan Technology Community staff who make sure we keep focused on the issues, interests, and developments that are important to the community. They are:

Administration

The Michigan Technology Community News is published by and for the U-M technology community to provide updates, build community, and spark conversation about how to support U-M’s current and future needs through the innovative use of technology. This site is sponsored by the Office of the CIO, hosted by LSA Technology Services, and maintained by ITS communications staff. The Michigan Technology Community News follows The University Record’s guidelines for online comments.
