July 10: BusinessObjects 4.3 Zoom Training

Information and Technology Services presents BusinessObjects training with the Data Science Practice team

The ITS Data Science Practice team is offering BusinessObjects (BO) training via Zoom on July 10. You can attend two sessions: a morning session for beginners and an afternoon session for experienced BusinessObjects users.

Important note: A minimum of 10 registrations is required for the classes to proceed. Participants will be notified in advance if the minimum number is not met.

Morning Session: Fundamentals & Intermediate Topics

Time: 8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.

  • Overview and Basics:
    • Understanding how BO works
    • Connecting to BO
    • Introduction to the new BO 4.3 Launchpad
    • Running a report
  • Customization and Creation:
    • Adjusting settings/preferences
    • Creating a new report
  • Working with Reports:
    • Using the Query Panel
    • Exercise 1: Practical application
    • Navigating report options – main and property panels
    • Exporting data and reports
    • Exercise 2: Hands-on practice
  • Intermediate Reporting Techniques:
    • Scheduling reports
    • Implementing report breaks and sections
    • Performing calculations
    • Utilizing input controls and report objects
    • Understanding Excel delimiter
    • Production support/OARS

Afternoon Session: Advanced Topics

Time: 1:15 – 4 p.m.

  • Alternate Data Sources:
    • Using Excel as a data source
    • BO report as a data source
    • Creating Free-Hand SQL-based WebI reports
  • Advanced Features and Functions:
    • Using character/string and other functions
    • Working with merged dimensions
    • Scheduling report output to multiple destinations
    • Understanding publications
  • Advanced Querying:
    • Creating subqueries
    • Creating combined queries
    • Understanding report variants
  • Support and Resources:
    • Accessing support documents and getting help
