It\u00a0provides an international forum for users of GIS technology to demonstrate real-world applications that are making a difference in our society.<\/p>\n<p>At the University of Michigan you can join the celebration by attending <a href=\"http:\/\/umdearborn.edu\/casl\/gis-day\">UM-Dearborn&#8217;s GIS Day Event<\/a>\u00a0(<strong>8:30 a.m.\u20134:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 14<\/strong>.) Activities will provide students, faculty, staff, and the community with the opportunity to explore, share, and learn about the application of\u00a0geographic information systems (GIS)\u00a0to problems that affect the environment and society. \u00a0Presentations and exhibits will showcase the use of GIS in community development, public safety, health, environmental science, and others.<\/p>\n<p>The event is free, though\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/arcg.is\/0rO9DS\">preregistration<\/a>\u00a0is strongly encouraged.
