{"id":7572,"date":"2018-03-09T09:00:20","date_gmt":"2018-03-09T14:00:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/michigan.it.umich.edu\/news\/?p=7572"},"modified":"2024-07-08T06:06:01","modified_gmt":"2024-07-08T10:06:01","slug":"online-degrees-coursera","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/michigan.it.umich.edu\/news\/2018\/03\/09\/online-degrees-coursera\/","title":{"rendered":"University announces first online degrees through Coursera"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Online learners may soon have <a href=\"https:\/\/record.umich.edu\/articles\/university-announces-first-online-degrees-through-coursera\">three new U-M master&#8217;s degree options through a partnership with Coursera<\/a>.\u00a0<span id=\"E78\" class=\"qowt-font2-TimesNewRoman\">In a joint announcement with the online platform, the School of Information said its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coursera.org\/degrees\/master-of-applied-data-science-umich\">Master of Applied Data Science<\/a> under development will build upon the school&#8217;s leadership in offering programing courses online, including several on Coursera.\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"E82\" class=\"qowt-font2-TimesNewRoman\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span id=\"E83\" class=\"qowt-font2-TimesNewRoman\">The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.coursera.org\/degrees\/mph-umich\">Master of Public Health<\/a>\u00a0offering from the School of Public Health is among the first degrees in this area of study to be delivered on a massive open online course (MOOC) platform. This degree program emphasizes application of research methods and public health principles to improve population health.\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"E89\" class=\"qowt-font2-TimesNewRoman\">The third proposed online offering is the debut of a new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coursera.org\/mastertrack\/construction-engineering-management-umich\">Construction Engineering and Management\u00a0<span id=\"E91\" class=\"qowt-font2-TimesNewRoman\">MasterTrack<\/span><span id=\"E93\" class=\"qowt-font2-TimesNewRoman\"> Certificate<\/span><\/a><span id=\"E93\" class=\"qowt-font2-TimesNewRoman\">\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"E93\" class=\"qowt-font2-TimesNewRoman\"><\/span><\/span><span id=\"E93\" class=\"qowt-font2-TimesNewRoman\">that allows users to take courses for certification or toward an advanced degree to be completed on campus for those who meet admission criteria.\u00a0<\/span>To date, U-M has seen 6.5 million enrollments in its portfolio of
