Here are a just a few improvements you&#8217;ll find on the new Michigan IT News site:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The ability to comment on and &#8220;favorite&#8221; stories<\/li>\n<li>Social media sharing<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/mcommunity.umich.edu\/#group:Michigan%20IT\">Subscribe\/unsubscribe<\/a>\u00a0to email updates via MCommunity<\/li>\n<li>Real-time\u00a0posting with option for <a href=\"https:\/\/michigan.it.umich.edu\/news\/feed\/\">RSS notifications<\/a><\/li>\n<li>A training and events calendar that integrates with Google (Yay!)<\/li>\n<li>Improved search capabilities with the addition of categories and tags<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We know many of you still like your monthly Michigan IT Newsletter email, so that won&#8217;t go away (unless you want it to). We plan to add other features and enhancements over the coming months. Use the comments below or <a href=\"mailto:umit-cio-newsletter@umich.edu\">send us an email<\/a>\u00a0to let us know what you think of the new site and how we can make it even better. <strong>We&#8217;d love to hear from you!<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>A little history<\/h2>\n<p>The first issue of the Michigan IT Newsletter in <a href=\"http:\/\/cio.umich.edu\/michigan-it\/newsletter\/201501.php\">February 2015<\/a>\u00a0had about a dozen items. Since then, the newsletter has become an important channel of communication, reflecting Michigan IT&#8217;s increasing importance to the university mission, expanding influence, and growing responsibilities. Along the way, it\u00a0even picked up a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/siguccs.hosting.acm.org\/Conference\/2016\/index.php\/awards\/\">Best of Category\u00a0award<\/a> from the Special Interest Group on University and College Computing Services. A few items of interest:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The average content volume of the newsletter has more than\u00a0doubled since 2015.<\/li>\n<li>We&#8217;ve added regular sections that cover IT-related campus news, safe computing, and updates on major IT projects and services.<\/li>\n<li>We assembled a dedicated working group of &#8220;frontline&#8221; IT staff who make sure we keep focused on the issues, interests, and developments that are important to the Michigan IT community.<\/li>\n<li>We have a diverse and growing group of story contributors from across all campuses and from many areas of specialization.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New year, new site, new features!
