Registration is open<\/span><\/a> for the 2017 Michigan IT Symposium, November 20\u201321, 2017. The event, which offers a great opportunity for networking with peers and making new connections, will take place at the <\/span>Michigan League<\/span><\/a> on the Ann Arbor campus<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>2017 symposium<\/span><\/a> will focus on how IT work at Michigan is transforming with the proliferation of cloud technologies and services and will provide opportunities to build new skills to take advantage of the opportunities ahead of us. We also invite conversations of when cloud may not be the right choice, evaluating services and vendors, and supporting the people side of technology change.<\/span><\/p>\n

B<\/span>e sure to stop by the <\/span>New Attendee Meet & Greet<\/b> on Tuesday morning to connect with other first-timers and make your plan for navigating the event. <\/span>The symposium will feature <\/span>27 presentations<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>56 posters<\/span><\/a> highlighting <\/span>innovations by Michigan IT community members in teaching and learning, research, patient care, organizational change, and the U-M bicentennial. <\/span><\/p>\n

    1. Opening Remarks <\/b>from U-M VP for Information Technology and CIO, <\/span>Kelli Trosvig<\/b><\/li>\n
    2. Keynote Address<\/b> from U-M Ross faculty member <\/span>Kim Cameron<\/b>, co-founder of the Center for Positive Organizations and expert in organizational change<\/span><\/li>\n
    3. Poster preview session and reception<\/b> on Monday, November 20, for an opportunity to view posters and network with peers before the main event<\/span><\/li>\n
    4. Joe Bauer<\/b> (LSA IT Advocacy and Research Support) will facilitate a panel discussion with Professor <\/span>Elizabeth Sears<\/b> (Chair, Department of History of Art, LSA), <\/span>Lance Stuchell<\/b> (Senior Associate Librarian, University Library), and <\/span>Sean DeMonner<\/b> (Executive Director of Teaching and Learning, ITS) on the place of digital archiving in a big data world, called <\/span>In 200 years will U-M be able to write a history of this period in American education if digital data is not historically archived?<\/span><\/i><\/li>\n
    5. Amy Homkes-Hayes<\/b> (Lead Innovation Advocate, Academic Innovation Initiative) will describe how the <\/span>Digital Innovation Greenhouse<\/span> is developing the next generation of digital education tools that will transform teaching and learning at U-M<\/span><\/li>\n
    6. Cassandra Callaghan<\/b> (Director of Dental Informatics, School of Dentistry) will present <\/span>TeleHealth the Future of Patient Care<\/span><\/i>, about how cloud technologies are changing the delivery of patient care<\/span><\/li>\n
    7. Grace Trinidad<\/b> and <\/span>Jennifer Wallis<\/b> (Business Analysts), and <\/span>Molly McPhall<\/b> (Education & Awareness Lead) from Michigan Medicine Information Assurance will present <\/span>Tackling Phish with Michigan Medicine<\/span><\/i>, which explains how Michigan Medicine partnered with ITS Information Assurance and cloud-based service PhishMe to raise awareness about phishing and help protect patient and institutional data<\/span><\/li>\n
    8. Hands-on training<\/b> from U-M developers on <\/span>Shifting Applications to the Cloud<\/span><\/i> and <\/span>Continuous Integration\/Continuous Deployment<\/span><\/i><\/li>\n
    9. Hands-on training<\/b> with the Amazon, Google, and Microsoft cloud compute platforms<\/span><\/li>\n
