The keynote address will be delivered by Cathy O\u2019Neil, author of the NYT bestseller \u201cWeapons of Math Destruction: How Big Data Increases Inequality and Threatens Democracy.\u201d Confirmed speakers include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Daniela Witten, Associate Professor of Statistics and Biostatistics, University of Washington<\/li>\n<li>James Pennebaker, Professor of Psychology, University of Texas<\/li>\n<li>Francesca Dominici, Professor of Biostatistics, Harvard T.H Chan School of Public Health<\/li>\n<li>Nadya Bliss, Director, Global Security Initiative, Arizona State University<\/li>\n<li>Alfred Hero and Brian Athey, Co-Directors, Michigan Institute for Data Science<\/li>\n<li>Eric Michielssen, Associate Vice President, Advanced Research Computing, U-M<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>U-M research teams supported by MIDAS will also present updates on their projects in data-intensive health science, social science, transportation and learning analytics research. A poster competition will feature U-M research focused on data science.
