That\u2019s the intent. <a href=\"https:\/\/umhsheadlines.org\/2017\/08\/regaining-lost-function-with-the-help-of-video-games\/\">Many of the rehabilitation programs developed in the lab are based on gaming technologies<\/a>\u00a0\u2014\u00a0and designed to get patients active and engaged. Such patients include those recovering from strokes as well as spinal cord and head injuries.<\/p>\n<p>Most are eager to get started on any given day, said <strong>Rob Ferguson<\/strong>,\u00a0MHS, OTRL, a manager at the U-M\u00a0Stroke Rehabilitation Program\u00a0and an occupational therapy clinical specialist. The reason? Gaming promotes the repetition, intensity and task-oriented training needed to support an individual\u2019s rehabilitation goals.
