Nearly nine out of 10 Americans report being so tethered to their digital gadgets that they constantly or often check their email, texts, and social media accounts, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-health-compulsions-mobilephone-idUSKBN16T2S3\">a new poll shows<\/a>.\u00a0The problem may stem from the addictive nature of digital devices. <strong>Ethan Kross<\/strong>, the director of the Emotion &amp; Self Control Lab at U-M says the old adage, \u201cout of sight, out of mind,\u201d fits mobile technology well. \u201cIf the cell phone is tempting you to check your email, take it out of your field of vision. I wouldn\u2019t underestimate the visual power of it.\u201d Smart phones \u201cinstantly activate the desire to check,\u201d he said.
