{"id":28399,"date":"2024-07-24T08:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-07-24T12:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/michigan.it.umich.edu\/news\/?p=28399"},"modified":"2024-07-23T11:04:13","modified_gmt":"2024-07-23T15:04:13","slug":"request-process-for-next-of-kin-access-to-u-m-accounts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/michigan.it.umich.edu\/news\/2024\/07\/24\/request-process-for-next-of-kin-access-to-u-m-accounts\/","title":{"rendered":"Request Process for Next-of-Kin Access to U-M Accounts"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Information &amp; Technology Services\u2019 (ITS) Information Assurance (IA) team has taken steps to streamline the process for next of kin to gain access to information contained in personal email, files, or other digital resources of a deceased or incapacitated holder of a U-M account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The process for <a href=\"https:\/\/its.umich.edu\/accounts-access\/leaving\/access-someone-elses-account\/access-to-personal-accounts\">Requesting Account Access for Next of Kin and Others<\/a> details required steps and documentation, and includes a new form to <a href=\"https:\/\/teamdynamix.umich.edu\/TDClient\/30\/Portal\/Requests\/TicketRequests\/NewForm?ID=kAngAc4s2go_&amp;RequestorType=Service\">submit a request to the ITS Service Center<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Reminder: <\/strong>It is important that units collaborate closely with their UHR business partner in the event of an employee\u2019s death.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:auto 26%\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As part of the effort to facilitate the next-of-kin process, ITS Information Assurance has clarified the guidance on how to <a href=\"https:\/\/safecomputing.umich.edu\/protect-privacy\/privacy-u-m\/personal-private-folder\">Use \u201cPersonal and Private\u201d folders to Protect Privacy<\/a>.
