{"id":23947,"date":"2021-05-26T14:07:57","date_gmt":"2021-05-26T18:07:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/michigan.it.umich.edu\/news\/?p=23947"},"modified":"2024-07-08T06:04:32","modified_gmt":"2024-07-08T10:04:32","slug":"all-together-now-microsoft-365-coming-to-michigan-medicine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/michigan.it.umich.edu\/news\/2021\/05\/26\/all-together-now-microsoft-365-coming-to-michigan-medicine\/","title":{"rendered":"All together now \u2013 Microsoft 365 coming to Michigan Medicine!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Michigan Medicine community will soon begin exploring the benefits of Microsoft 365 (M365) \u2013 a product suite that brings together many of Microsoft\u2019s most popular tools \u2013 in a new, better, and more powerful way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Combining the best of desktop, web, and mobile applications, M365 will enable users to collaborate in real-time, with anyone in Michigan Medicine from nearly anywhere, on virtually any device. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Michigan Medicine\u2019s instance of M365 is HIPAA-compliant, and is intended to provide&nbsp;faculty, staff, and learners with a unified, streamlined experience that promotes productivity and collaboration, and helps people get things done!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>M365 is rolling out in stages, so Michigan Medicine users can expect to see ever-greater benefits as new elements are added over time:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/michigan.it.umich.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/ATN-High-Level-Timeline-051821-copy-600x200.png\" alt=\"Timeline of the rollout. It also includes tools that make building and managing \u201cteam\u201d and \u201ccommunication\u201d sites easier than ever before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Coming Soon<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>(June 2021)&nbsp;<strong>Office 365 + OneDrive:<\/strong>&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/office\" target=\"_blank\">Office 365<\/a>&nbsp;offers many of the most popular Microsoft tools (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Outlook), and bundles them with&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/office\/get-started-with-onedrive-work-or-school-b30da4eb-ddd2-44b6-943b-e6fbfc6b8dde\" target=\"_blank\">OneDrive<\/a>, to make them more powerful, collaborative, and mobile-friendly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(Aug.\u2013 Nov. 2021)<strong>&nbsp;Outlook in the cloud + mobile device management upgrade:<\/strong>&nbsp;Email, calendars, and contacts will move to the cloud. Meanwhile,&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/hits.medicine.umich.edu\/accounts-access\/device-account-protection\/intelligent-hub-mobile-device-management-system\" target=\"_blank\">Intelligent Hub<\/a>&nbsp;will be replaced by an improved mobile device management system that lets users to take full advantage of M365 features on mobile devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Coming later<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Microsoft Teams<\/strong>:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/videoplayer\/embed\/RE1LGec?pid=ocpVideo0-innerdiv-oneplayer&amp;postJsllMsg=true&amp;maskLevel=20&amp;market=en-us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Teams<\/a>&nbsp;is a single, customizable \u201cportal\u201d that integrates multiple M365 tools to streamline work, enabling users to easily access files, chat with coworkers, have meetings, and more \u2013 all in one place. (Teams will replace Skype for Business.)<\/li><li><strong>Additional M365 applications and integrations:&nbsp;<\/strong>Over time, HITS will enable additional features to make the M365 experience even better! These include Microsoft-supported tools and applications specifically designed to leverage the platform\u2019s cloud capabilities such as Planner and Lists; as well as integrations with popular non-Microsoft products \u2013 helping users harness the benefits of these tools as never before.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why M365?<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, both&nbsp;<em>where&nbsp;<\/em>and<em>&nbsp;how<\/em>&nbsp;many people work is rapidly evolving \u2013 along with their technology needs.
