{"id":20176,"date":"2020-09-03T13:22:23","date_gmt":"2020-09-03T17:22:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/michigan.it.umich.edu\/news\/?p=20176"},"modified":"2024-07-08T06:04:48","modified_gmt":"2024-07-08T10:04:48","slug":"beta-tool-helps-researchers-manage-it-services","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/michigan.it.umich.edu\/news\/2020\/09\/03\/beta-tool-helps-researchers-manage-it-services\/","title":{"rendered":"Beta tool helps researchers manage IT services"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"394\" src=\"https:\/\/michigan.it.umich.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/rmp_screenshot-700x394.png\" alt=\"A screen grab of the Resource Management Portal once a user has logged in. \" class=\"wp-image-20178\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since August 2019, Advanced Research Computing &#8211; Technology Services (ARC-TS), a division of ITS, has been developing a tool that would give researchers and their delegates the ability to directly manage the IT research services they consume from ARC-TS, such as user access and usage stats.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ARC-TS <a href=\"https:\/\/arc-ts.umich.edu\/resource-management-portal-rmp\/\">Resource Management Portal<\/a> (RMP) beta tool is now available for U-M researchers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The RMP is a self-service-only user portal with tools and APIs for research managers, unit support staff, and delegates to manage their ARC-TS IT resources. Common activities such as managing user access (adding and removing users), viewing historical usage to make informed decisions about lab resource needs, and determining volume capacity at a glance are just some of the functionality the ARC-TS RMP provides.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The portal currently provides tools for use with <a href=\"https:\/\/arc-ts.umich.edu\/turbo\/\">Turbo Research Storage<\/a>, a high-capacity, reliable, secure, and fast storage solution.
