With faculty, staff, and students already benefiting from Duo two-factor authentication at Weblogin, ITS is working to further extend this protection to other university services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Try it now on your personal computer<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Visit <a href=\"https:\/\/its.umich.edu\/enterprise\/wifi-networks\/vpn\/getting-started\">ITS: Getting Started With VPN<\/a> and choose your operating system to get VPN profiles\u2014plus the Cisco AnyConnect client\u2014that prompt for Duo at login. Profiles incorporating Duo are available for macOS, Windows, and Linux. The Duo &#8220;Remember me&#8221; feature does not currently work with AnyConnect on Mac or Linux; it does work with AnyConnect on Windows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"193\" src=\"https:\/\/michigan.it.umich.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/AnyConnectWebloginDuo-700x193.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19770\" srcset=\"https:\/\/michigan.it.umich.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/AnyConnectWebloginDuo-700x193.png 700w, https:\/\/michigan.it.umich.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/AnyConnectWebloginDuo-300x83.png 300w, https:\/\/michigan.it.umich.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/AnyConnectWebloginDuo-200x55.png 200w, https:\/\/michigan.it.umich.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/AnyConnectWebloginDuo-665x183.png 665w, https:\/\/michigan.it.umich.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/AnyConnectWebloginDuo.png 760w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Connection profiles without Duo will remain available for now for those who want to continue using them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>MiWorkspace and other managed computers updated for you<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Mac<\/strong>. If you have a MiWorkspace Mac or a Mac managed via ITS\u2019s Managed Software Center (that is, those managed via <a href=\"https:\/\/its.umich.edu\/computing\/computers-software\/izzy-mac-platform-service\">Izzy<\/a>), you do not need to do anything at this time. Watch for a communication from MiWorkspace or your unit IT provider about what to expect.<\/li><li><strong>Windows.<\/strong> MiWorkspace Windows computers are equipped with an &#8220;always on&#8221; VPN-like client called DirectAccess that does not require separate client software. If you use the Cisco AnyConnect client on a MiWorkspace Windows computer, you will receive updated connection profiles with Duo.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Duo to be required for VPN later<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>ITS anticipates Duo for VPN will be required at some point during the 2020-21 academic year.<\/li><li>ITS will work with U-M units and communicate extensively before making use of Duo for VPN access required.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Retirees and alumni\u2014who use a different, designated connection profile\u2014will not be required to use Duo for VPN.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You can now use Duo two-factor protection with the U-M Virtual Private Network (VPN).
