Alex Halderman<\/strong>, a U-M professor of computer science and engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By offering a free service, Let\u2019s Encrypt has turned the implementation of HTTPS from a costly, complicated process to an easy step that\u2019s within reach for all websites. The certificate authority is now the world\u2019s largest, providing more HTTPS certificates than all other certificate authorities combined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Halderman and his collaborators at Let\u2019s Encrypt\u2014the Electronic Frontier Foundation, Mozilla, Cisco and Stanford University\u2014have published a paper detailing how the project came to fruition.
