That means it will no longer provide security updates or support for Windows 7. To avoid security-related risks and support issues, we ask that you upgrade to Windows 10. Begin planning now to upgrade as needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>If you have not already done so, plan to stop using Windows 7 before January 14, 2020. The number of machines running Windows 7 at the university is dropping week by week. Thank you to those of you who have already taken action!&nbsp;<\/li><li>If it is not possible for you to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10, begin planning how you will mitigate in other ways. For example, you might remove your device from all networks or isolate it on a protected network and restrict access. If you need mitigation suggestions, contact ITS Information Assurance through the<a href=\"https:\/\/its.umich.edu\/help\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> ITS Service Center<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">MiWorkspace staff members are working with unit IT staff on plans to upgrade computers to Windows 10 wherever possible. Health Information Technology &amp; Services staff members are ensuring that <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/hits.medicine.umich.edu\/projects\/upgrading-windows-10\" target=\"_blank\">Michigan Medicine devices running Windows 7 will be upgraded by October 31<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you have Windows 7 on personal devices that are not managed by the university, plan to upgrade to Windows 10 by January.
