This talk will be the first of four throughout April and May aimed at exploring issues at the intersections of teaching and learning; technology; and diversity, equity, and inclusion. Members of the Detroit Community Technology Project (DCTP) will kick off the series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Title:<\/strong>&nbsp;Rooted in Community: The Equitable Internet Initiative<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Description:<\/strong> Through the Equitable Internet Initiative we work to ensure that more Detroit residents have the tools to leverage digital technologies for social and economic development. &nbsp;We do this by fostering the development of community rooted technologists, those who build, design and facilitate a healthy integration of technology into people\u2019s lives and communities.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This session will examine:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>How Digital Stewards, through the practice of common ownership, environmental and digital justice, openness, and skill building \u2013 bring their communities online<\/li><li>How we use collaborative design to engage our partners, communities and stakeholders<\/li><li>A brief history of the Detroit Digital Justice Coalition<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com\/e\/aim-for-dei-speaker-series-detroit-community-technology-project-tickets-59831675151?aff=website\"><strong>Register for this AIM for DE&amp;I session<\/strong><\/a>. All members of the U-M community including faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to attend.
