However, the ITS Collaboration Services team has recently become aware that there are important exceptions that could affect some campus accounts in Google+.<strong> <\/strong>(Be sure to read <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/a\/answer\/9229693\"><strong>Google\u2019s documentation<\/strong><\/a> for details and the most recent updates.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is staying and going away with U-M Google+?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>According to the latest information from Google, the following U-M Google+ content will stay, with some restrictions:<\/strong><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Communities: <\/strong>Communities that have at least one G Suite owner (i.e. U-M user or other individual with a G Suite account) will remain. <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/plus\/answer\/6320413?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&amp;hl=en\">See how to add owners to Communities<\/a>. However, posts made by Brand Accounts and consumer Google+ users will be deleted from Communities.<\/li><li><strong>Collections:<\/strong> Existing Collections will remain for now. However, U-M users will not be able to create new collections or add content to a collection that is not domain-restricted.<\/li><li><strong>Circles: <\/strong>Existing Circles will remain for now. However, U-M users will not be able to create new circles, add people without a Google+ account to existing circles, or share a post to a circle. In addition, after the consumer shutdown, non-G Suite users will be removed from circles.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>According to the latest information from Google, the following U-M Google+ content will be deleted starting April 2, 2019:<\/strong><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Pages, like the <a href=\"https:\/\/plus.google.com\/103908587086707082263\">U-M Google<\/a> page<\/li><li>Gadgets embedded in classic Sites (not the new version of Sites)<\/li><li>Events<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What do I need to do?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>If you want to keep your content, be sure to <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/plus\/answer\/1045788?hl=en\"><strong>download your Google+ data<\/strong><\/a><strong> before April 2, 2019. <\/strong>Some alternative services to consider include:<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/new\">Google Sites<\/a>: To create a public, web-based presence.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/groups.google.com\/a\/discussions.umich.edu\/forum\/#!overview\">Google Groups<\/a>: U-M Discussion Groups to send and archive communications.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ITS Collaboration Services team has been in contact with Google+ service administrators at Google and will continue to provide updates as they become available.<br><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As communicated in December 2018, Google stated that Google+ would remain available in U-M Google after Google retires its consumer version of G+.
