This will allow the university to continue to benefit from mainstream support from Microsoft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"460\" height=\"306\" src=\"https:\/\/michigan.it.umich.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/testingsmall.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11775\" srcset=\"https:\/\/michigan.it.umich.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/testingsmall.png 460w, https:\/\/michigan.it.umich.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/testingsmall-200x133.png 200w, https:\/\/michigan.it.umich.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/testingsmall-300x200.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 460px) 100vw, 460px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Active Directory test forest will be upgraded by the end of January or thereabouts, so you can test things you are responsible for that use Active Directory to be sure they&#8217;re ready to work with Windows Server 2016 domain controllers. This includes computers running Mac OS, Linux, and Windows, as well as other devices that use Active Directory, such as multi-function printers.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let the upgrade team know what things will need to be tested by filling out this survey: <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/1sS_JQPwSuagQxCwMfpdS4SG2S7qky7WpiYIA0bbGrHY\/edit?ts=5c0a8fd7\" target=\"_blank\">Testing for 2019 AD Upgrade to Windows Server 2016<\/a> (a Google Form).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the meantime, would you please begin contacting any application and service vendors for the things you manage that use Active Directory to make sure their applications can communicate with Windows Server 2016 domain controllers?<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Check <a href=\"https:\/\/its.umich.edu\/accounts-access\/active-directory\/upgrade\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">Active Directory Upgrade to Windows Server 2016<\/a> for updates and testing details.
