But before you <a href=\"http:\/\/documentation.its.umich.edu\/node\/353\/#awaymessage\">set up your away message<\/a> and head out the door:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Help U-M conserve energy and money over the break:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Close and lock all windows to save energy and prevent water pipes and sprinkler heads from freezing and bursting.<\/li>\n<li>Set thermostats to 68\u00b0F where possible for the building to operate efficiently and conserve energy.<\/li>\n<li>Turn off all unused office equipment, including monitors, printers, copiers, fans, coffee pots, task lighting, and device chargers.<\/li>\n<li>Turn off space heaters.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Help campus remain safe and secure:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Close and lock all doors.<\/li>\n<li>Secure any valuables.<\/li>\n<li>Lock desks and closets.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>During the break, many buildings will be locked, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.housing.umich.edu\/node\/7415\">residence halls<\/a> will be vacated, most <a href=\"http:\/\/www.itcs.umich.edu\/sites\/labs\/hours\/\">campus computing sites<\/a> will be closed, and ITS will be operating on a <a href=\"http:\/\/its.umich.edu\/news\/article\/holiday-hours-information-and-technology-services-its\">reduced schedule<\/a>.
