(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.umflint.edu\/sites\/default\/files\/groups\/Information_Technology_Services\/annual_report_17-18_for_web_0.pdf\">The entire report (PDF) is available online<\/a>.) The report provides bios of ITS professional staff as well as updates on the organization&#8217;s 10 operational areas. Below are highlights of the report:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Data Information Management:\u00a0<\/strong>Much progress was made this past year toward Flint&#8217;s Banner 9 upgrade, including integrations with Common App. The group also completed an upgrade to Oracle\u00a012C and\u00a0added a feature to allow Automate to process multiple jobs.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Desktop Computer Services:<\/strong> In addition to\u00a0assisting in multiple departmental moves and staff relocations, DCS has rolled out and configured Windows 10 on new equipment and\u00a0continues to work with Xerox to replace older printers on campus.<\/li>\n<li><strong>ITS Helpdesk:<\/strong>\u00a0In the last year, the ITS Helpdesk began to\u00a0cross train student technicians in Helpdesk, Classroom Services, Desktop Computing Services, and Project Management so they could provide more full-service, flexible support.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Classroom Services:\u00a0<\/strong>Among its many projects, CS established\u00a0new procedures for the application and retrieval of student Mcards and Parking Permits,\u00a0obtained funding to replace a majority of projectors in general classrooms, and\u00a0created new interfaces\u00a0for instructor station touch panels.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"attachment_11008\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11008\" class=\"size-full wp-image-11008\" src=\"https:\/\/michigan.it.umich.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Flint-data-management-e1542829893209.jpg\" alt=\"man sitting at desk, working on computer\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-11008\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">(Flint ITS)<\/p><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Network Engineers:\u00a0<\/strong>The networking team completed wireless upgrades in all classroom buildings and implemented\u00a0network security protocols\u00a0campuswide to help mitigate on-site intrusions.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Project Management:<\/strong>\u00a0The project management group engaged in 37 defined projects totaling nearly $2 million dollars in value including\u00a0ensuring uninterrupted IT and internet services during the dredging of the Flint River, the launch of a campus PA system, and implementation of a radiation therapy 3D\u00a0simulation unit.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Security Services:\u00a0<\/strong>Security Services completed an assessment of Flint&#8217;s\u00a0main firewalls\u00a0and updated their operating software, reduced\u00a0instances of sensitive data stored on department drives or other locations by about 50%, and\u00a0conducted a simulated phishing awareness campaign.<\/li>\n<li><strong>System Administration:<\/strong>\u00a0SA continued to roll out Password Sync, merging users&#8217; Flint and Ann Arbor passwords. Password sync will also pave the way for Flint&#8217;s upcoming migration to Google. In addition,\u00a0the team completed a major overhaul of the campus email list server and\u00a0replaced eight virtualization hosts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"attachment_11009\" style=\"width: 611px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11009\" class=\"size-full wp-image-11009\" src=\"https:\/\/michigan.it.umich.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Flint-training-e1542829694653.jpg\" alt=\"Woman conducting training, large screen in BG.\" width=\"601\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/michigan.it.umich.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Flint-training-e1542829694653.jpg 601w, https:\/\/michigan.it.umich.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Flint-training-e1542829694653-200x133.jpg 200w, https:\/\/michigan.it.umich.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Flint-training-e1542829694653-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 601px) 100vw, 601px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-11009\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">(Flint ITS)<\/p><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Web Services:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0Last summer, the Web group helped successfully launch a new member management system for the Recreation Center, launched a\u00a0self-service portal for Mcard processing, and\u00a0enhanced the MyUmflint portal with several new features.<\/li>\n<li><strong>ITS Training:<\/strong>\u00a0ITS Training supported six campuswide Banner 9 open forum sessions and created a Banner 9 video along with supporting documentation and handouts.
