How to Travel With Duo Two-Factor Authentication
\nRecommended Options Plan Ahead for these Scenarios
\n\u25cf Most people can use the Duo Mobile app.
\nThe Duo Mobile app on a smartphone or tablet can generate
\nan asynchronous passcode anywhere in the world without any
\nconnectivity, as long as your device has power.
\n\u25cf Add devices or phone numbers if needed.
\nReview the travel scenarios and enroll additional devices or
\nchoose other Duo options before your trip. Enroll your devices
\nor phone numbers at password.it.umich.edu\u200b.
\n\u25cf Need emergency access\u200b?
\nContact the ITS Service Center at 734-764-HELP (764-4357)
\nfor an emergency bypass code (for example, if you lose your
\ndevice while traveling).<\/p>\n

\u25cf No cellular or WiFi service?
\nThe Duo Mobile app can generate passcodes without any connectivity. It can also be
\nused to generate passcodes on tablets without a cellular plan.
\n\u25cf Using more than one SIM card?
\nEnroll the phone number associated with each SIM card in Duo.
\n\u25cf Traveling to an embargoed country?
\nDo not take Duo technology to Cuba, Iran, Crimea, North Korea, or Syria. Remove the
\nDuo Mobile app from devices, and do not take a Duo hardware token. You can use
\nphone options, such as a phone call or text passcodes.
\n\u25cf Plan around restrictions or limits.
\nIf your destination restricts technology, such as the internet or hardware tokens, or you
\nwon\u2019t be able to use a phone, you can request a bypass code for the duration of your
\ntrip. Contact the ITS Service Center at 734-764-HELP (764-4357) and request the
\nbypass code 1-2 business days before the start of your trip.<\/p>\n
